Marceline Self-Guided Tour

What year was Marceline founded? Why was Marceline built? When did Walt Disney move to Marceline? What year did the Marceline Carnegie Library open? The answers to these questions and much more history can be found by taking the self-guided tour of Marceline. Visitors (and neighbors) are invited to bring a bottle of water and a smartphone to Downtown Marceline and scan any one of the colorful QR codes found around town. The map will show you where all of the codes are located, so enjoy the walk as you learn about Marceline.

Each QR code will redirect you to information on Downtown Marceline’s website. You can read some of the history of that spot, or listen to the audio, thanks to former Disneyland Tour Guide Mike Lynch, who delivers the history to your earbuds while you study the area around you. And of course, while you’re walking Main Street USA, don’t forget to stop and shop and say hi to the shop owners to let them know where you’re visiting from, and what brought you to Marceline.

Any QR code can be scanned using your smartphone camera. Simply open your camera application and focus on a QR code. A web address should pop up that you can tap on. If you don’t see that, you might need to install a QR code scanner like Google Lens (Android | Apple). We hope you have fun taking the self-guided tour, and that you learn a little bit of history about Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri.

Please share this with friends near and far. The more we all share outside of Marceline, the more likely it is that people will come visit.
